Welcome to my online portfolio!
Hi! Thank you for taking time to check out my portfolio. Here you will find a collection of the past year and a half of my busy life seeking an online degree in Instructional Technology through Georgia Southern University. I have really enjoyed working in this program. I have gotten familiar with so many new technology resources and best of all, the media center. I am excited to share with you what I have learned.
I am new to the world of education. I recieved my B.S. in Middle Grades Education from the College of Coastal Georgia in 2012. Then, I secured a job teaching United States and World History to tenth and eleventh graders at a nearby high school. I was very afraid to walk into a high school classroom, but now I prefer it to younger grades. Though the kids can be challenging, teaching them can be very rewarding.
Teaching older kids has also benefited me in pursuing this degree. We instituted a BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) policy in our district last year. This policy has provided plenty of oppurtunities to try our new programs and web 2.0 tools with my students.
While I am not ready to leave the classroom just yet, I realize that there will come a time when I need to move on to something new. Earning a degree in Instructional Technology with a media specialist concentration gives me an oppurtunity to expand my career without leaving education. It also opens doors for teaching online if I chose to earn an endoresement.
On the left, you will see links to each component of my online portfolio. Some of them, such as the "5 Roles of a Media Specialist" and "Standards", also have subpages. Below you will find the number of hours I have spent in Practicum, as well as the location. I hope that you can navigate through all of this information quickly and easily. Enjoy!
